Refinished Child’s Armoire

DIY, Home

There’s nothing I love more than a hand-me-down piece of furniture that has been in the family for years. Sure, I love to refinish any old thing, but knowing the story behind a piece really makes the end product that much more fulfilling.

This past fall, after announcing our pregnancy to our family, Kurt’s Mimi and Pappa were quick to offer an old child’s armoire they had stowed away in their back shed. Knowing the size of our nursery, which is not big at all, I highly doubted anything else would fit, especially an armoire, which in my head was huge. A couple months later, we made the trip to their house for Christmas and we finally got to rest our eyes on the child’s armoire that had once been Mimi’s.

Painted Bathroom Cabinets

DIY, Home

When we traded our huge builder grade mirror for two wooden framed mirrors Kurt made for me, I knew I would have to do some repainting. Before we moved in, we painted the bathroom walls a warm muddy gray to hold us over until we could fully tackle the room decor later. I loved the color of the walls, but with everything else white, the room felt boring… boring, that is, until your eyes rested on our awesome mirrors (thanks babe ;))

After transforming our kitchen by painting the oak cabinets, I turned my efforts towards our builder grade, fake wood master bathroom cabinets. Now, as you know, Kurt and I don’t like to spend money where it isn’t needed so I used quite a few supplies that had been purchased previously for other projects.
