Hello! We’re the Boehringers (pronounced Beringer…like the wine), and we are the “crew” behind DIYstinctly Made.

We’re just a couple of budget-minded crazies with the start of a tool collection and the determination to do it ourselves. We love to build things, refinish things, and pretty much put our own touch on anything we can get our hands on ESPECIALLY if it saves us a buck or two.

In 2013 we bought our first home in Central Louisiana and we’ve enjoyed sprucing it up one project at a time. In August 2014, we found out that we were expecting a new little person due to make his big debut in the Spring of 2015.

  1. Is it possible for you to share your sketchup file for the baby crib you made? Love the design and would love to make it for my child. Thanks!

  2. Was the size of your crib slightly larger than a standard crib? It looks as if it’s about 3 inches longer than a standard crib size which would affect the mattress needed.

    1. With the way we built it, the solid sides are not completely flush with the inside of the posts which does leave a minimal gap between the sides and the mattress. This could be adjusted by attaching the sides flush with the inside of the posts rather than centered. This would then leave a larger gap on the outside, unless the posts were ripped to be less than 4×4. We use a standard crib and bumpers and you cannot see any gaps.

  3. Hi Guys, Dean from Australia, just finished making ‘your cot’ with our first grandchild due this week. Thank you so much as your clear details made it really quite easy. This is 5 years after your post and on the other side of the world, so your still having a quality impact all over the world. great stuff.
