When my beautiful friend, Jessica, of The Happily Hughes asked me to guest blog I was thrilled! I knew exactly what I would blog about. A couple of month’s ago I scored an old pie safe that was in “okay” condition. It was the seller’s stepfather’s great grandfather’s piece (still with me?) so really it was in great shape for it’s age.

Painted Bathroom Cabinets
DIY, HomeWhen we traded our huge builder grade mirror for two wooden framed mirrors Kurt made for me, I knew I would have to do some repainting. Before we moved in, we painted the bathroom walls a warm muddy gray to hold us over until we could fully tackle the room decor later. I loved the color of the walls, but with everything else white, the room felt boring… boring, that is, until your eyes rested on our awesome mirrors (thanks babe ;))
After transforming our kitchen by painting the oak cabinets, I turned my efforts towards our builder grade, fake wood master bathroom cabinets. Now, as you know, Kurt and I don’t like to spend money where it isn’t needed so I used quite a few supplies that had been purchased previously for other projects.
DIY Homegrown Avocados
DIY, Home, YardBefore the times of Pinterest and immediate access to thousands of DIY ideas, there was Rita (my mother). Craft magazines filled her sewing room resembling the first glimpse at what Pinterest would “soon” capitalize on (and we sure are glad they did!). Rita, also known as “The Nugget” for her short, nuggety stature, is the whole reason that have an ounce of craftiness. There was always a project going on in our household. I would look forward to the next time I had to stay home from being sick because that meant we were sewing… I think she enjoyed me staying home. She knew she had someone to craft with. Not only is she an amazing crafts-woman, but she has an insane green thumb as well. It seems anything and everything she touches will grow.
